In our digital age, video content is king, and embracing video into your company’s advertising game plan isn’t just a smart move—it’s essential. With video, companies can capture their audience’s attention with compelling content, showcase their products and services, as well as significantly enhance brand visibility. Interacting with customers through video is highly effective when it comes to building and maintaining connections.

However, creating engaging video ads can be challenging, especially for businesses without a video production department or those with limited resources. Enter Google Ads Video Builder. It’s a powerful tool designed to make video creation a painless process. Regardless of your technical expertise, it’s easy and accessible to everyone. If you have images, a logo, and ad copy, you can easily create your very own high-quality video in Video Builder.

9 Steps to Utilize Video Builder to Produce Captivating Ads for Your Video Campaigns
Step 1: Access the Video Builder Tool Access Asset Library

To start using Google Ads Video Builder, you need to access the asset library in your Google Ads account. Navigate to the Asset Library from the Settings section. Once there, select the blue + New button. Choose Video and Create Video.

Step 2: Choose a Template

Video Builder offers a wide variety of templates that use video best practices and are designed to meet your different advertising and creative needs. Google Ads helps you out here by letting you filter by what your marketing objective is. Whether it’s brand awareness, sales, consideration, or app promotion, Video Builder has a template for you. There are several other filters you can use as well, such as duration, orientation, occasion, and more! It is highly recommended you create videos in landscape and portrait, at a minimum, and add square if you have the time.

Keep in mind that each template has different requirements, so you may want to click the templates to preview them before you make a selection.

These templates are all optimized for YouTube placements. Video Builder ensures your ads have the right pace, calls to action, and brand placement.

Step 3: Upload Your Assets and Customize

After choosing your template, customize your video by following the template prompts. Each field clearly indicates what content is needed, whether it’s a URL, a message for a specific image, or other content. Video Builder simplifies the process, making it effortless to complete your storyboards.

If they aren’t already in your asset library, gather your creative assets, including logos and images. Video Builder allows you to upload these assets directly into the template. You can crop your image to fit if needed.

And, of course, don’t forget about ad copy! Take into account that there are character limits on all text fields, so you may need to adjust text as you go through the storyboards.

You can also customize colors using HEX codes and select different fonts to coordinate with your brand’s identity.

Step 4: Add Music

No video would be complete without music! Select a music track from the Video Builder’s massive audio library. Google Ads helps narrow down your choices with their mood description of the music and recommends music that works with the template scene changes. Whether it’s bright, calm, inspirational, dark, or dramatic, you will find the perfect accompaniment to your video. When the holidays roll around, there are festive tunes you can choose to get your potential customers in the spirit of the season.

The right music can amplify the emotion of your ad and make it more compelling.

Step 5: Voiceover

Here’s where things get really fun. Add a voiceover! Once your video is created, you can enhance it with a voice-over message. In the voice-over dropdown menu, simply type what you want the “person” to say, and select a voice. You have the choice of eight different voices to ensure your video has the right feel to it.

If you do decide to include a voiceover, you may wish to adjust the volume of the voice or the music to ensure you can hear what your video is saying.

Make sure to preview your video to see how the voice-over fits with the changing scenes. You may want to play with the speed or the start time of the messages to flow better with the video.

Step 6: Preview

Video Builder provides real-time previews, which can be previewed anytime during the creation process. It is crucial to see how your video will look before finalizing and uploading it for potential customers to see. Ensure that all the different elements you have added will work harmoniously together, and there are no errors in your ad copy.

Step 7: Upload

You’re at the final step before uploading your brand-new video. In the video name field, we suggest creating a customer-facing name, as viewers will see it below the video; that means do not name it something generic like “Video 1” or “landscape holiday ad”. Highlight the special offer or the product you’re promoting to make it appealing and informative for your audience, or include your website URL and a call to action.

You may now choose which channel you would like to upload your video to. If you don’t have your own channel, Google Ads allows you to select a video ad storage channel created by YouTube. (We don’t recommend doing this, as having a brand channel offers a better user experience to your users and will use your channel logo as part of the ad).

Once the upload has been completed, click “Return to Asset Library.” Your new video will be saved there, ready for you to use in the future.

Step 8: Use the Video in Campaigns

Once your video is in the asset library, you can use it in any Google Ads campaign that supports video, such as Performance Max campaigns or Video remarketing campaigns. Because this handy tool is integrated with Google Ads, video creation is incredibly simple, and adding your new video to your marketing strategy is even easier.

Step 9: Copy and Edit Videos

Any video that you’ve created in Video Builder can also be edited, so if your offer changes or you want to test different calls to action or a different color scheme, you don’t have to recreate the video from scratch. Find the video in the Asset Library that you’d like to copy, and click the three dots icon in the upper right of the video, then select Copy and Edit. (You can also add voice-over, so you can test how an ad performs with and without voice-over.)

Offering a fast, easy, and free solution, Google Ads Video Builder revolutionizes video creation. By making the video creation process easy and providing an abundance of customizable templates, this tool empowers anyone with the ability to produce professional-looking video ads both quickly and efficiently. Embrace the awesome power of video to captivate your audience and magnify your brand visibility by effectively connecting with your audience through engaging content. Start building your engaging video ads in minutes with Google Ads Video Builder, and watch your business prosper in the digital advertising landscape.
